Burbot Bash 2010

Ice Fishing Expo

At 2:00pm on January 23, 2010

Buckboard Marina, Flaming Gorge Reservoir

 Public is welcome! No entry fees!   

Purpose: To teach beginning ice anglers why and how to catch Burbot also known as ling cod on Flaming Gorge and to put as many of these invasive predators on the ice as possible!

Schedule of Events  

2 pm kick off Burbot Bash officially
Sign Waivers - hand out raffle tickets

        2:15 – Game & Fish update – Craig Amadio, Rob Keith, Wyoming Game & Fish and Ryan Mosley DWR  

2:45 – do a few drawings

  3:00 - Fishing tips – David Freeman
          Best time of day
          bait & lures

  3:30 – do a few more drawings  

3:45 – Ice Safety tips – Jack Weimer Sweetwater Emergency Management  

4:15 – more drawings  

4:30 – Announce votes for Odiferous Award will end in 15 mins.  

4:30 – 5 – gutting cleaning, filleting tips Game & Fish  

5 pm announce winner for Odiferous Award and present with “Skunk”

  5:15 start with cooking demo will actually start cooking during the cleaning portion Chris Collette Flaming Gorge Resort

  6 pm done start clean up

Go fish!!!  

o      Raffles will be held.  Prizes include:  Ice fishing gear, tackle, Chamber Gift Certificates and more!

o      “Odiferous Award”, not in smells bad but in always gets “Skunked” you can nominate and vote for your favorite fishing buddy that always gets “Skunked” ice fishing. Vote by e-mail to: grchamber@sweetwaterhsa.com , at the Chamber offices or vote the day of the event. Winner will receive their very own “Skunk”!
