PROFILE OF THE MONTH

Riverside Nursery
& Mobilitat

Local Businesses Win Statewide Awards

Riverside Nursery and Mobility Works, Inc. were chosen for statewide recognition. This year at Business Day at the Legislature, February 10, 11, 2003, the Wyoming Chamber of Commerce Executives presented Entrepreneur of the Year, to Bill Lewis of Riverside Nursery, and Innovative Products and Services of the Year to Cindy Johnson, Mobilitat. Each Chamber of Commerce in the State was asked to nominate a business in each category, if possible, from their membership. The nominations would then be reviewed by a panel made up of members from the Wyoming Business Council and SBA to determine the winner in each category.

The Green River Chamber Nominating Committee chose Riverside Nursery and Greenhouse, owner Bill Lewis and Mobilitat, owner Cindy Johnson for several reasons. Riverside Nursery began twelve years ago and has been able to add to it’s business each year. When Bill first started his business, he took over two run-down residential lots, removed the old structures and began with portable frames covered with heavy plastic and a mobile home. He saw the potential in the traffic pattern that the street in front of his business occupies and revitalized a portion of the town that was and is in need of work. His business has added a new structure or feature each year. This year he is adding a lodgepole gateway and expanding in the back of the property with a design and classroom. During the spring, summer and fall months the nursery is just gorgeous. Bill and his staff have always been the model of what customer service should be. Bill serves on the Chamber Urban Renewal Committee, Kayak Committee, was key to bringing the Whitewater Park to Green River and the list goes on. The Green River Chamber Board of Directors felt that Riverside Nursery met and exceeded the criteria outlined for this year’s award and were unanimously in support of the nomination.

Cindy Johnson and her company Mobilitat is one of those quiet, behind the scenes companies that I am quite sure not many people in Green River are aware of. Cindy runs her company out of her home and has customers from all over the United States and overseas. Her innovate use of computer programming enables a wide array of dispatching systems to overlay and cooperate with each other. Cindy has always been involved with the community and is one of the founding members of our Ambassadors, the Hole-in-the Wall Gang. She has also volunteered and served on the Gala Committee, SWEDA Board and Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Cindy is also a great grant writer and has donated her time to the Green River High School and was able to acquire funding for a student operated store, PAWS, in the Green River High School. Cindy is able to think outside the box and continues to strive for programs that will better the community, as in her support of the Intelligent Telecommunications concept that has been bantered about the State for the last three years. Mobilitat also received unanimous support from the Board of Directors for the Innovative Product Award.
