Annual
River
Festival
River Festival
will be held August 2 will be held August 21,
22, 2009.
The Festival will begin on Friday afternoon with signups and orientation at
4 p.m.
! At about
5:30 p.m.
we will begin serving a Cajun
Shrimp Boil. This
will be open to the public; tickets will be sold in advance with just 750 meals
available. Be sure to purchase your ticket early. We have sold out every year! Prices are $20.00 for adults, Children 12 &
under and seniors $ 10 per plate.
Cajun spicy style shrimp boiled with sausage, potatoes and corn! Free kids games will be
available from
5-7 p.m.
and the
Kiwanis Club will be
hosting their Duck Race.
Newly added this year is the Green River High
School Activities
Departments car auction which
will be held near the picnic shelter on Evers
Park.
Entertainment for that evening will be the
Fireants"
from Buffalo Wyoming,
playing Caribbean
Cajun music. The Fireants will
perform from 5:30
to
10:30 pm
outside on Expedition
Island.
At dark we will have fireworks.
Vendors will be on hand with some great
items for sale. Mary Mint jewelry will
once again
be back,www.marymint.com.
Mary has been at
the Festival four years in a row with a fabulous selection of
fine jewelry! Other vendors include Scentsy, Charlynn Jewelry, Grandpa's Toys
& Creations, American-made Jewelry & Gifts,
Scroll Saw Creations,
Digital Books, Handmade Bridles and Halters, Phat Wall-Art and Photos,
Julie's Custom Aprons and Girl Scouts - Face Painting for Food.

entries and winner will also take
place in the large tent located in parking lot on
the Island just as you cross the bridge. The tent will also serve as on
information area. Be sure
to get your
photos entered before August 18th.
Saturday the events will begin at 6:30 a.m.
at Evers Park. The
6th
Annual marathon race, the
Run
With the Horses
Marathon
will begin at
6:30 a.m.
, with the race beginning and ending at
the same point Saturday August 22nd.
The
Marathon
route is across the Wild Horse
Loop Tour on
White Mountain, hence the name. The runners
will travel across a self guided
Loop
Tour that 9 times out of 10 has wild horses frolicking along side
the road. The race starts out at 6,200 climbs to about 7,500 feet. The
majority of the road is a County maintained dirt road. Aid Stations with snacks,
water and energy drinks will be placed every two miles.
Porta Potties will be placed throughout the course. Entry fee of $60 includes
a windshirt and medallion for the finishing racers.

Again this year is the
4th
Annual
Lucky 13
Poker Run. Both will
begin at the mouth of 1st Springs
Canyon, near
the
Hampton Inn. White Mountain
provides great views and lots of
wildlife! Riders will travel 6.5 miles
up the Pilot
Butte Wild Horse Loop Tour, receiving a total of 7cards at the stops. Riders will have the
opportunity to buy an extra card at the final stop for $5.00.
Best 5 Card Stud
Poker hands will win – 1st, 2nd
& 3rd.
Cash and prizes will be awarded.
Lucky 13, Poker Run begins at 9 am on Saturday August 22nd, Poker Run is $10
per hand .

Brew Fest from
11a.m.
to 5 p.m.
There will be
several brewers
available for you to sample their
beer, and for you to vote on your favorite.
Brewers Grand Teton Brewing Company, Wind River
Brewing Company, micro brews
from Teton Distributors and Western Wyoming Beverages too. Participants will be charged a $20 entry fee. This
fee would allow you to
sample an unlimited amount
of beer. Judges will award 1st, 2nd,
3rd place winners along with the People’s Choice Award.
Local Band, 4th Rock
will entertain the
crowds
from 11 am to 5 pm.
A Dog Fetching
Contest is an event that we
know will involve the home crowd too. Dogs will be timed on fetching a stick out
of the river and back to their owners. We are also including a land event for
those water phobic dogs. Dog Fetching begins at 11 am.
Dog Show is
being put on by Judy Jarnigan and she will show you how to get your dog to
traverse an obstacle course. There will also be
prizes given for the Prettiest,
Homeliest, Biggest, Smallest and Best Behaved Dogs. Dog Show starts
at
12:30 p.m.
Crowd participation helps the
judge make their decision so bring your friends!
Another
new addition to the River Festival
will be the “Extreme
Trail Challenge”.
This event is
for all you horse lovers. The event will take place just
north of
Evers
Park
in the open lot. Riders and t
heir horses will navigate a number of
“obstacles”,
for instance they may have to take a bag of garbage from
one garbage can and move it to another, or
back your horse through a
L-shape path made of
hay! There will be several stations that you will
need to negotiate and participants will be judged on time
and on how well
your horse goes through each station. The event will be a jackpot with 60%
of the entry fee going back to 1st, 2nd and 3rd
places.
Participants
will get to see the course for the first
time Saturday morning. Thanks to
Ron & Deb Sunburg for putting the course together and helping out!
